Uneven pigmentation can be one of the biggest roadblocks to flawless skin. No matter how dedicated you are to maintaining a soft texture, reducing wrinkles, and keeping your skin hydrated, discoloration can still stick around.

If you’re looking to tone down facial redness or minimize dark spots, a BBL at our Fenton, Michigan, med spa may be the way to go. BBL—which stands for Broadband Light—can remove pigmented patches, giving you evenly colored skin you can feel confident in with or without makeup.

What Is BBL?

A BBL is a light-based treatment designed to minimize coloration issues in the skin. Great candidates for BBL, who visit from Flint, Holly, Linden, Parshallville, and other nearby communities, are looking to treat:

  • Facial redness
  • Sun spots
  • Age spots
  • Hyperpigmentation

BBL can be used on the face, neck, chest, hands, shoulders, back, arms, and legs.

If dullness in your skin’s color is a concern, you may also want to try a peel or facial.

How Does BBL Work?

BBL works by directing intense pulses of light at your skin, where it’s absorbed by melanin and blood vessels in deeper layers without harming the outer layers. This causes the pigment to break down and be naturally removed by the body, leaving behind an evenly pigmented surface.

Do BBL Treatments Hurt?

During a BBL treatment, it’s normal to feel some warmth and a slight sting, similar to the feeling of a rubber band snap. The device is cooling, which will soothe your skin during the treatment. The whole thing only takes about 30 minutes.

What Is BBL Recovery Like?

Recovery is fairly quick. Your face may be a bit pink and warm, similar to the feeling of a sunburn, for a day or 2 after your treatment. It’s super important to stay on top of your sunscreen use during this time.

How Many BBL Treatments Will I Need?

Many people find they get the best results with a series of about 3 treatments spaced a month apart. We’ll talk with you about how many sessions you may need when we develop your personalized treatment plan at your consultation.

How Long After a BBL Treatment Do You See Results?

You may notice your dark spots getting darker for about 7 to 10 days before naturally flaking off. At this point, you should notice clearer, more evenly pigmented skin. If treating redness to the skin, broken blood vessels or cherry angiomas, you can see almost immediately, and get’s better with time!

How Long Do BBL Results Last?

The lifespan of BBL results depends on things like your exposure to the sun, lifestyle, hormones, and genetics, but results are generally long-lasting. We typically recommend 1 or 2 maintenance treatments a year to keep your skin looking its absolute best. Treatments such as HydraFacials® can keep your skin healthy and glowing in the meantime.
